Easter Time

The April Lefton figurine came from the bakery where my Little Grama was the cake decorator.  I have one for each month of the year; she used them to decorate birthday cakes.  I went to work with Grama and stood on a box next to the stainless steel table where her lazy Susan for cakes was positioned. In 15 minutes she could take a cake and turn it into a work of art, roses, swirls, and her handwriting in frosted greetings on the top.  Grama's cakes were  beautiful creations, and we ate them!
Tags and paper craft don't require a lot of artistic ability.  I can cut, glue stick and layer papers on top of cardboard sandwiched in the middle with more scrapbook paper on the back.  Making a tag for each month I enjoy displaying them and then tuck each one in a box to bring out the next year.
Cutting the floral graphics from vintage greeting cards, I combined them with the little gal from Imagimeri, there's a link on my sidebar to her amazing blog and collection of graphics.  Garnish with a couple of silk flowers and she sits on the shelf with her feet hanging in the breeze.
This little Easter greeting with the hopped up bunny was made by Sandy 521 Lake Street!
Easter time, all pastel and happy with dresses and bonnets, shiny new patent leather shoes and sunrise church service and the celebration of life.  He is risen indeed!

Baby Faces

You got the cutest little baby face!

If there is a corner on the market on cuteness, it may belong to baby planters.  Frequently at the thrift stores, I have become more discerning; after finding a few absolutely adorable ones in the beginning of my addiction.  Yes, I said it, addiction.  There's something in the paint!  You pick one up and others find their way to you.  Filling them isn't a job for plants, they are really a great spot for a tatted hankie.  Who would donate 50 hours (or more!) of tatted work to the thrift store!?  Thank you (someone else's) Grama for making this adorable tatted treasure to last for 50 years.

Easter Bonnets:  they're not just for humans any more.  She must have had the same mother I had:  "Go put some blush on!  You look pale!"

This little cutie is holding a handkerchief too; Lily of the Valley, my favorite flowers.  She is nestled next to another little cutie, my oldest daughter.  MANY years ago!

This one looks like a boy but...hmm, pink booties?  Well, they're old planters, maybe it wasn't crucial in the 1950's that baby boys were blue. One more you say?  OK, a winker for last.  He looks like one of the Campbell Kids, or Dolly Dingle.  Tell me a story about your planters.

Shockingly Spring

I don't know what to say; I have never done things like this in March or April in the Upper Midwest!
I wore Capri pants.  We turned the air conditioner on in the car before June.  The snow is gone; even the pile in the middle of the cul-de-sac that lasts until mid-May some years!  Easter in this part of the country included new shoes, an Easter bonnet and white gloves, chocolate bunnies and winter coats.
I made this little Easter project by cutting out the graphic and standing her against an easel.  Leftover wooden ornaments from an old Easter tree got called into service along with a few buttons from my stash.  Ruffle up her skirt with crepe paper pleats, trim the length with a pinking sheers and she's all set for Sunday School!
.

Some day, we'll be telling our grandkids about the weird weather in 2012 when the grass turned green and the leaves were open and there was SPRING in MARCH!
