Reflections on the water, like shadows in my mind,
Speak to me of passing days and nights and passing time. The falling leaves are whispering that winter's on the way.
I close my eyes remembering the warmth of yesterday.
It seems a shame to see September swallowed by the wind,
And more than that, it's oh, so sad, to see the summer end.
If it were mine, to make the change,
I think I'd let it be.
The Season Suite, "Fall" song by John Denver from the Rocky Mountain High album was a great set of lyrics; I loved this one and have quoted it for years. The AUTUMN banner is one that I made last year; more 'page a day' calendar illustrations by Mary Engelbreit. The leaves are raining down from our poplar trees, the drought more than the change in seasons brought them down early. The weather is glorious, upper 70 degree temps in the daytime hours, 40 degrees at night or as we like to say, "good sleeping weather!"
Yes. It's definitely good sleeping weather. Love your ME images from your fall banner.
ReplyDeleteWasn't the Rocky Mountain High Album the best? I love John Denver! A few of us in high school saw him in concert in San Francisco ...it was a great show!!! Love your Fall banner!! And the change in weather is nice too!!

Love John Denver too! Wish it would stop raining here in my part of Scotland then I could enjoy the changing season!

John Denver, my very favorite musician. He was the first concert I ever went to when I was 12! We had his song "Follow Me" played at our wedding!
ReplyDeleteI love your fall banner! I just pulled my stuff out of the attic and had to do some re-gluing on some of my banners.
I too love the cool sleeping weather we have been having!
Windows up at night!
Blessings

The autumn banner is so sweet, Tammy. Love John Denver too(my son even said he liked him after listening to an old record). It's cooled slightly here to about 90, but I wish we had real fall weather. Enjoy and sleep well!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful, Tammy! The lyrics are the perfect illustration to your darling banner, my friend--well done!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a wonderful autumn day!

I do love fall...great banner. Smiles..Renee
ReplyDeleteI still cry sometimes when I think about John Denver. He was the poet of my late teens and newlywed days. George sort of resembled him in high school. I made him George)an embroidered chambray shirt inspired by one on an album cover...of course mine was very simple. I often dreamed of meeting him and writing song lyrics. Our wedding theme was Annie's Song and our daughter, Amber, was supposed to be name Aerie Anne after one of his albums. But I could never afford to see one of his concerts...until he came to Bremen, Germany. I finally got to see him! I need to do a blog post on this someday. Thanks for the memories! =D
