Having gone from 2-16" of snow each week between April 1st until last week, it doesn't seem possible that it's nearing Memorial Day weekend. The Patriotic Holidays as I like to call them are beginning! Out come the red, white and blue vignettes which stay up for Flag Day through the 4th of July at our house.
My son enlisted in the Air Force after graduation, he was a Senior in High School when 9/11 happened. The Greatest Generation book inspired him, he had played in band at a Veteran's Day Memorial Service on the Battleship Missouri in Pearl Harbor during his Junior year.
When I buy flowers each spring I plant a Victory Garden as a way of remember my son's service each year. He's a Technical Sergeant now, in August we will recognize his first 11 years of military service, he plans to do 20. Stationed far away now, we have to fly over the ocean to see him...yes, he's at Hickam in Pearl Harbor now!
Red, white and blue decorations and another summer without the ring of his voice on the patriotic holidays...
Please thank your son for his commitment to our country. A victory garden sounds appropriate!
ReplyDeleteIt is that time of year isn't it???? I always look forward to breaking out the red, white, and blue!! A Victory Garden is such a great way to honor your son!

ReplyDeleteThank you again for my special package. It doesn't seem possible that Memorial weekend is nearly upon us. Your victory garden is just beautiful. If the weekend dries out, I hope to be planting flowers. Bring on the red, white and blue decor!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful patriotic decorations. I wish you could give your son a big hug and kiss for me and tell him Thank You!!!
ReplyDeletePLEASE thank your son for his service to our country! It's because of people like him that we are able to live a life of freedom.
ReplyDeleteThe inside of my house is basically pastels, but the outside is another story. There's always something patriotic out there, and when the "Patriotic Holidays" begin, it's full blown RW&B! Love all of your decorations, and I can tell that they mean just a bit more to you because of your amazing son!
I have been playing with red, white and blue out in the studio. You should be quite proud of your son...thank you to him for his service and making our country what it is.
ReplyDeleteTammy, my thanks and prayers for your son, and to you for being his Mother. Your Victory Garden in the washtub is so pretty, and all of your other touches of red, white, and blue are so cute. I love that checked Family sign. laurie

God bless your son. Yes, thank him for all of us. I do love your gardens and pretty arrangements around the house. I am going to put out more 4th of July and Patriotic things tomorrow. Blessings to you and your family.
ReplyDeletePretty decorations! Love your pretty flowers! :) Have a Happy Memorial day! xo Holly
ReplyDeleteYou have raised a wonderful son! You have a lot to be proud of this Patriotic Summer. I haven't posted my vignettes yet...we just got home a couple of hours ago...but I can't wait to get back to my regular life and routine. We were supposed to be back last night, but somewhere around Grand Junction Colorado our travel bug bit the dust, so we spent the night there. So glad to be home...got a lot to do...and some things I need to change in my life. Don't be alarmed...it's good things (like Weight Watchers...lol!)
ReplyDeleteGod Bless your son for his service, Tammy. My thanks to him and to you. I will keep him in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteTell your son Thank You, from us and kudos to y'all for raising such an upstanding man.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of planting a victory garden for your son, Tammy! I know you must be very proud of him!

ReplyDeleteHave a lovely fall week!
Hi Tammy,
ReplyDeleteStopping by to say hello and I was thinking of you. I have all my Americana Summer 2014 out I think ( I keep finding things I didn't put in the tubs last year or must have acquired since last September) and thought of you and your Victory Garden. Hope you are doing well.
Hugs,
Lynn
